Dunkel and Roggen
MEET DUNKEL AND ROGGEN. They come from a military family who has orders to go overseas. Here is their summary on both dogs:
Dunkel:
10 year old male born on Sept 28, 2009. He was born in Georgia by breeders and has lived in Florida and California. I have had him since he was 8 weeks old. He is microchipped (puppy) and neutered (4 months). He is a picky eater and has a sensitive stomach so his weight fluctuates due to some days he eats and some days he doesn’t. Right now he is around 75lbs. Would love to graze feed but we can’t due to our other weim. Very mellow demeanor (for a weim) and stubborn. Has some ear issues sometimes and needs his ears cleaned on a regular basis. Also had surgery a few years ago on his ear due to fluid build up(like a wrestlers ear). Loves to swim and chase his bumper in the water. Loves walks or runs and used to go run on trails but we haven’t in a few years. Loves to sunbathe. Loves to chew on chuck it balls and bones and as weird as this sounds, he likes to suck(knead) on a specific stuffed animal. He sleeps on his bed at night and during the day he lounges on floor or couch. He does not like thunderstorms or fireworks and shouldn’t be left alone if possible during them. Definitely not left outside during storms or fireworks because he will find a way to escape whatever fence is holding him in. He just wants to curl up on your lap during thunderstorms. If you are laying on couch, he loves to join, but isn’t big on affection other than a little cuddling. Typically don’t leave him in a crate anymore due to him getting anxious in them after some time and tries to chew out. He does tend to have a little separation anxiety once in a while and will try to chew out of a gate or door knob, but thats typically because something freaked him out. He does well with strangers but doesn’t realize his size with young kids sometimes. I’d recommend no cats or birds or rodent type pets in the house. Our two weims sometimes play pretty rough with each other and snap at each other but not with other dogs. He did get bitten at the beach from another dog because of a toy. He is a very sweet ‘old man’ and was my first weim so he was my baby.
Roggen:
6 year old male born on April 26, 3013. He was born from breeders in Las Vegas and has only lived in California. I have had him since he was 9 weeks old. He is also microchipped (puppy) and neutered (5 months). Eats almost anything and is a very fast eater; not able to graze feed. He is about 80lbs right now and would be huge if we let him eat as much as he wanted. He does tend to counter-surf or steal food if food is left out so we constantly have to watch him around food. He is opposite of Dunkel and a high energy dog. Probably a typical demeanor of a weim unlike Dunkel. He gets plenty of exercise and usually crashes after a good walk or swim but is a very alert dog all the time. Where Dunkel goes, he goes; where I go, he goes, s a true velcro dog. Very affectionate and loves to be pet all day. Very protective and this is what we have had to work on with trainers. He protects our home inside of boundaries/fences, so when strangers walk by or come into the yard, he will bark and has nipped people. So we have to introduce him slowly to strangers at our home or people that are not comfortable around dogs, I think he senses that. People that are dog people, he is fine around. We have used tone/shock collars on him and he listens well to those controls. He can get a little protective over a bone that he is chewing on but not all the time. Get separation anxiety and does bark for a little while when you first leave him and then gets overly excited when you come home. He sleeps in his own bed and lounges on the couch or floor during the day. Loves to chew bones, chase/wrestle, tug o war, swim. Roggen was in a car accident in 2015 with us and has a big scar on his back hip, no bones were broken or hip issues. Does not like cats. Does well with kids but get excited and doesn’t know how big he is. Does fine with big and small dogs.
Both dogs:
I believe I have both dogs AKC paperwork. Both are current on all vaccinations and are given trifexis monthly. No allergies, no medical conditions, no seizures. Both are silver/grey and tall/lean build. Eat Kirkland brand dry dog food/treats, no medications. Fun fact: Named them both after German beers.
Really want to keep them together and would love to get updates if the new home is open to that occasionally.
Please reach out if you are looking for a bonded pair! Thank you!
