Happy Gotcha Day to Artemis
Sometimes, you get lucky.
Like that day we met with Till and Julian at a park after a long day of showing dogs. The purpose of the meeting was to introduce our CalWEAR dog to their current girl, Athena.
The moment Athena and her family met with ARTEMIS, and we loaded her up in the car for a âtrial run,â we KNEW in our hearts she was going home. 
It actually wasnât a slam dunk. ARTEMIS had a few concerning growths that had to be removed. (It wasnât cheap and we still havenât paid our bill off. 
) And the day AFTER she was adopted, she went back to the ER for seizures. 
ARTEMISâ family stuck by her side and saw her through it. It never occurred to them to return her because she wasnât âperfect.â Their message to us was simply to let us know, and that they were taking care of it. Thay also sent us dog food to help out with OTHER CalWEAR dogs. Thatâs just how awesome they are. So…
CONGRATULATIONS to Till and Julian on their adoption of ARTEMIS!!!! Thank you for choosing rescue, and thank you loving ARTEMIS.

Last week, ARTEMIS went to the vet to have her lump removed. Even with a rescue discount, our bill for her care is pretty hefty.
We suck at fundraisers, and weâre horrible about asking for money, but we need to do it anyway because weâre still very much in the hole from treating our other CalWEAR dogs (Sophie for Addisons, Ty for eye issues, Lucy for tumors, Florence for a botched spay, the list goes on…)

UPDATE: CHEVIE IS NOW ARTEMIS.
Chevie
Todayâs WEIMBUS starts with CHEVIE, a sweet eight year old girl who has lived with one family her whole life. The family purchased her from a breeder. She was sold at a discount because she was the only one in her litter that was born with âthe mark of the hound.â
CHEVIE has lived her entire life with an older Boxer brother and younger Chihuahua sister. Because the Boxer didnât get along with the inside cats, CHEVIE lived in the backyard to keep the Boxer company.
CHEVIE needs a new home because it has been increasingly difficult for her and the Chihuahua to get along. Regardless, Chevie has never had an issue with the cats or the Boxer.
Since she has never lived alone, it is recommended that Chevie gets into a new home with other big dogs, and maybe cats.
CHEVIE is food with adults, children, dogs her size, is spayed, and up to date on shots. She will be available for meet ân greets with new families in Southern CA after Sunday, May 12th.
