Fundraiser Goal for Dabaneer is Reached!!!

July 4, 2020 //  by Kim//  Leave a Comment

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HAS CONTRIBUTED TO DABANEER’S FUNDRAISER. ❤️

Due to the generosity of our “anonymous match donor,” and the continued contributions as a result of the match period, we are pleased to report that we have met our fundraising goal for Dabs. !!!!!!!!!!! Any amount not used for Dab will be held in escrow and used for the next rescue who needs a formal fundraising effort.

A simple thank you is not enough, but we’ve been rendered speechless. To the whole tribe, and all of our supporters, our hearts are full with gratitude. Thank you.

– Team CalWEAR

24 Hour Dollar for Dollar Match for Dabaneer

July 4, 2020 //  by Kim//  Leave a Comment

DABANEER UPDATE: He’s the fella who was hit by a car, captured, and brought into the shelter by a Good Samaritan (Babs Fry!) with a broken jaw.

DABS IS DOING GREAT!!!!!!

He’s a sweet boy who enjoys human attention, long walks without his muzzle on, and tasty meals with ground up beef. ❤️

We are currently hovering at about 45% of what is needed to cover the cost of Dab’s surgery.

Now here’s where I get a little emotional:

A friend of CalWEAR (who wishes to remain anonymous) asked me about Dabs today. This person has already contributed to Dab’s fundraiser and has asked me a couple of times about the progress of our fundraiser. I was sad to report that we hadn’t met our goal.

So, this generous person (who I am proud to call a personal friend) immediately offered to MATCH DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR what is donated for Dab in the next 24 hours.

What a lovely reminder that the BEST people are those I’ve met through Weimaraners, and more specifically, through rescue. 🥰

So there it is, folks. Until 8:15 PM on Saturday, July 4th, every dollar donated will be matched by another dollar donated.

Let’s end this fundraiser with some 🎇. !!!!

Raised: Approx. $3,000

Goal: $6,500

Venmo: @CalWEAR
Zelle: 949-278-2981
PayPal: donate@CalWEAR.org
Mailing address: CalWEAR, 3024 E. Chapman Avenue #248, Orange, CA 92869

Love to all, and please be safe this holiday weekend! 🤗

– With love and gratitude, Kim/CalWEAR ❤️

Meet Dabaneer

June 25, 2020 //  by Kim//  1 Comment

MEET DABANEER.

On May 20th, Dabaneer was brought into the San Diego County Shelter by the one and only Babs Fry. Dab had been running the streets of Jamul for over a week; Hungry, thirsty, and HIT BY A CAR.

By the time he was medically evaluated, Dabaneer was “quiet, lethargic, emaciated, and dehydrated.” Additional notes indicated “severe trauma, mandible clearly fractured and displaced, several open wounds on head and back of AS pinnae.”

“Medical level: URGENT.”

In other words, the impact from the vehicle left him with a bruised skull, open cuts, and a broken jaw.

DABANEER was not wearing a collar. He hadn’t been micro-chipped. Worst (or best?) of all, his owner never came looking for him.
So Babs and CalWEAR worked together to do what needed to be done: Get him into surgery. Find him a foster home. Let him recover. Let him heal.

Show him about not going hungry.

As of June 15, 2020, Dabaneer’s medical expenses are at: $4,241.48
A $6,500.00 fundraising campaign is hereby initiated to cover the full amount, plus additional costs for additional post-op appointments, further treatment as necessary, and ultimate neuter (when he’s well enough to handle another surgery).

The next post-op appointment is scheduled for this afternoon. Fingers crossed he continues to heal. 🤞🏼

In the meantime, we appreciate ANY amount you have to spare for DABANEER.

– With love and gratitude, Team CalWEAR. ❤️

Hi, everyone! We’re in San Diego. . .while we’re not able to foster this sweet guy right now (would really love to) we can visit him and certainly donate to his care, absolutely! Where is he and what vet are you all using? We’re preparing to sell our condo (I am a realtor) and if things were different, we’d foster him in a heart beat. Our blue Weim, Magnus is 6 yrs old.
