Florence Diagnosed with Stump Pyometra

May 12, 2019 //  by Kim//  Leave a Comment

On Monday morning, we consented to an exploratory surgery to figure out the cause of Florence’s continual bleeding.

Official diagnoses: CANINE STUMP PYOMETRA (more about it here: https://www.atdove.org/article/canine-stump-pyometra)

Treatment: Removal of infected mass / abscess.

Current condition: Resting comfortably in foster home. Feeling SO GREAT she’s now committing Weim crimes. 🤣

Next step: Pay our vet bill. 😬

Here’s where we need your help. Treatment of other dogs this season (Lucy’s Pre-op and post-op appointments, Sophie’s hospitalization and Addison’s treatment, Ty’s eye diagnosis and treatment, Luke’s tumor removal), were all done behind the scenes without fundraising efforts and has more or less depleted CalWEAR funds.

PLEASE HELP US PAY FLORENCE’S BILL: North Tustin Veterinary Clinic can be reached at: 714-838-7440. The account is under “CalWEAR Florence.” You can also make a PayPal payment to donate@CalWEAR.org and we will forward the amount received to our vet.

CalWEAR is a 501c3 public charity and a receipt can be sent for your records.

THANK YOU!

– With love and gratitude, Team CalWEAR

Florence Vet Update

May 6, 2019 //  by Kim//  Leave a Comment

5/6/2019 5:00 PM FLORENCE UPDATE:

BabyGirl is out of surgery and resting comfortably. Dr. Kali wants to keep her overnight for observation, so we’ll pick her up in the morning. More to follow once we speak with the vet about what he discovered during the procedure. ❤️

5/6/2019 9:00 AM FLORENCE UPDATE.

BabyGirl fell asleep on the scale while waiting for results to come back. 😍

The blood panel came back normal. That rules out hemophilia and rat poison.

The ultrasound, however, revealed a large abdominal mass.

We are leaving Florence with Dr. Kali for the day. He’s going to open her up, take a look at what’s going on, fix her up, and call us later to pick her up.

Please think healing thoughts for Florence today!!! ❤️

Florence Goes to the Vet

May 6, 2019 //  by Kim//  Leave a Comment

5/6/2019 8:30 AM FLORENCE UPDATE:

We are at North Tustin Veterinary Clinic in Tustin, CA to meet with Dr. Kali because Florence is still spotting after her spay surgery at the Baldwin Park shelter.

Possibilities:

1) Rat poison

2) Hemophilia

3) Botched spay job

We think it’s a botched spay job. Currently sitting in the exam room waiting for ultrasound findings. Fingers crossed we figure out what this is, and can fix it.

More to follow.

Florence Update

April 14, 2019 //  by Kim//  Leave a Comment

FLORENCE UPDATE.

“I’ve had Florence with me now for almost a week. She can’t be in the same part of the house as my others because she’s still coughing from being at the Baldwin Park shelter, so we spend time together when I’m doing chores in the barn or out on the driveway. I spent an hour cleaning out the WEIMBUS today while Florence sat on the driveway and soaked in the sun. She stood up to have me pet her forehead every time I passed her. Even though I have a GPS tracking collar on her in case she wanders off, she has decided that she will never be more than 15 yards away from me. So we really don’t even need it. Just a few short days and I’m already her person. To the family who dumped her; I am at a loss as to why. To the family who wants her, you’re in for a treat. It has been an absolute pleasure to watch her for you.❤️”

Florence

April 9, 2019 //  by Kim//  Leave a Comment

PICKUP # 3 LAST SUNDAY.

MEET FLORENCE. She’s beautiful, she’s kind, she’s smart, she’s gentle, and she’s loving. Whoever used her for breeding over and over and over again, and then dumped her at the Baldwin Park shelter when you were done with her, where she sat around for a week and picked up kennel cough…

YOU’RE NOT A VERY NICE PERSON. ☹️

Done with your girl? Just give us a call. We’ll come pick her up, no questions asked. You can even drop her off in one of our foster’s yards at midnight if you want to. Or drop her off with our vet for a spay and don’t come back to pick her up so we have to claim her. Tie her up in front of the grocery store and then send us an anonymous tip to get her. You can even pretend to be a hero. Whatever. Just please, DON’T DUMP HER AT THE SHELTER.

She was frightened. She was depressed. She had her head down staring into the wall when I came up to her door. Thankfully, she perked up when I offered her a salmon treat, and within 30 minutes, I had paid for her exit, signing away that yes, I understood she had been spayed, yes I understood it had been botched, yes I understood what a bleeding vulva was, and yes, I STILL WANT HER.

Florence is home with me now and settling in. But I have to keep her separated from my other girls because she’s recovering from kennel cough. And she’s still bleeding. But that’s okay. She’s on her way to recovery and in a few days she’ll be back to 100%.

And next week, we’re gonna hit the road again because this beautiful girl already has a family from the CalWEAR village who wants to meet her. We’ll go get a mani-pedi for the introduction date if time allows. 😉

In Need of Foster for Baldwin Park Girl

April 1, 2019 //  by Kim//  Leave a Comment

IN SEARCH OF:

Transporter and temporary foster home (with no other animals in the house) for 7 year old female Weimaraner who is currently waiting to bust out of the Baldwin Park Shelter.

We have a ride lined up for Sunday… but that’s a long time for this girl to be sitting there.

Please note that we’re looking for a home with no other animals because shelter dogs sometimes pick up kennel cough during their stay and we don’t want anyone’s existing family dog(s) to get sick.

Please reach out to us at 949-278-2981 if you can help!!! Thank you!!!
