Lucy Goes Home

July 1, 2019 //  by Kim//  Leave a Comment

LUCY, our medical stray from San Diego, who we raised almost $5K for to have a pair of mammary tumors removed, was adopted over the weekend!!!!

THANK YOU MENEFEE FAMILY for committing to Lucy because you knew she really needed a home, traveling all the way down to Southern CA to get her, and then taking her home to join your family.

AND – ETERNAL GRATITUDE TO TEAM CALWEAR for your generous donations over the last few months. Another precious girl RESCUED. ❤️

Lucy Needs Respite Care

June 13, 2019 //  by Kim//  Leave a Comment

ATTENTION ORANGE COUNTY WEIM LOVERS:

LUCY is still in foster care and needs a little bit of respite help. Her family is going on an east coast college tour so we need someone to temporarily watch Lucy from July 11-21.

Lucy is an older girl, loves sleeping on the sofa, good with all dogs and people, housebroken, and up to date on all shots.

If you can help, please email us at hello@CalWEAR.org or shoot us a text. (Don’t FB Messenger us; we’ll probably never see it.)

Thank you!!!!! ❤️

Lucy Has IDS

May 13, 2019 //  by Kim//  Leave a Comment

LUCY says she’s not broken (anymore) but she DOES have a moderate case of IDS (inverted dog syndrome). Symptoms include lack of care in the world, afternoon drowsiness, and evening lolligags.

Interested in adopting this “special” girl?! Please give us a shout! Lucy is located in Laguna Niguel.

A Visit with Lucy

May 5, 2019 //  by Kim//  Leave a Comment

WEIMBUS STOP # 2 TODAY. A visit with LUCY.

Once in awhile, CalWEAR commits to a “true rescue.” To us, that’s a dog who wouldn’t be here today without the help from our rescue community. ❤️

LUCY came to us back in January with some massive tumors. If rescue hadn’t exited her from the shelter, she would have been euthanized. We couldn’t let that happen.

But – With those massive tumors came a massive fundraiser. Once we came close enough to reaching our $5,000 goal, Lucy was admitted to surgery to get those masses removed.

Two months later, we are SO HAPPY to report that Lucy has made a complete recovery and is doing well!!!!! 😊

THANK YOU TO THE CALWEAR VILLAGE FOR MAKING HER HEALTHY AGAIN!!!!!

Lucy does, however, still need a family to call her own. If there’s anyone out there who would like to the most mellow Weimaraner in the world, give us a shout. We’d love to hear from you.

– With love and gratitude, Team CalWEAR

Help Lucy

February 14, 2019 //  by Kim//  Leave a Comment

PLEASE HELP LUCY!!!!! ❤️

For those of you who have been with us for awhile now, you know we RARELY ask for donations. (Our last big effort was for Libby in June 2017.)

BUT LUCY NEEDS US. In summary, Lucy came to the San Diego Humane Society as a stray that a Good Samaritan brought in. Sadly, her people never came for her. SDHS warned us that she had two large mammary tumors that needed attention. We didn’t realize how fast moving they were until we got her into foster care.

TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE. We have surgery scheduled for February 22nd on the condition we can raise $5,000.00. Can you help us?!

There’s a “donate” button on our FB page (blue button!) that gets you to our PayPal page. This is where we’ll be collecting funds for Lucy. A check snail mailed to our PO Box works well too (please note it’s for Lucy); other than the 55 cents for postage, Lucy will get 100% of the amount donated.

In lieu of a donation, just SHARING Lucy’s story would be greatly appreciated. Lucy needs all the support we can muster for her.

More about sweet Lucy here: www.CalWEAR.org/help-Lucy/

Oh, and she’ll need an adoptive home at some point, too. We’ll worry about that later. 😉

With love and gratitude,

– Team CalWEAR ❤️

Lucy Makes it into Foster

January 13, 2019 //  by Kim//  Leave a Comment

A MESSAGE FROM COOPER:

“Everybody loves Lucy! And so do I. The little girlina I got to give her freedom ride to today…sweet as can be…very tired…she was found as a stray on 1/2/19. She tried hard to stay awake on the ride to her fabulous foster home but it was a struggle…she loaded into the back seat very easily but immediately went to the passenger seat-and curled up as close as she could get to me (which is why I drove up to Orange County one-handed-my right hand was securely tucked under her head)…while I’m sure she was well-cared for at the Humane Society, being in a shelter is very hard on the animal.

Now she never has to worry about her next meal and will have the love and care she so deserves…Yep, I love her…when we were settled on the sofa, she lifted her head up, looked at me and gave me a kiss as if to say “thank you”…I had told her on the drive how amazing things were going to be for her and while I know she wanted to believe me, she couldn’t be 100% until she saw for herself…she even has a darling little Yorkie sister and a human sister too!

Note on last photo: she has a couple of very large lipomas which are visible in the pic…and another which is about 1/3 the size of the visible ones (softball sized) which will get taken care of.

I also want to give a huge shout out and thanks to my guy, Michael, who is also part of this freedom ride effort in that he hangs at home with my girlina while I’m gone. It typically takes a few hours and so, Kyla isn’t left alone, and Michael can have as many screens going as possible (tv, laptop, phone) with different sports/games…so, total win-win…seriously, it takes a ‘village’ and I am truly grateful and thankful to be with someone who has such a generous and kind heart …”

On behalf of all of us at CalWEAR, THANK YOU COOPER for transporting this girl, and THANK YOU JUDEE for welcome her as a foster in your home!!!!

First order of business is to get these tumors looked at and taken care of. Second order of business will be find her a deserving forever home because this is one sweet, sweet girl. ❤️
