Sophie Addison

Sophie Has Addison’s Disease

April 6, 2019 //  by Kim//  Leave a Comment

WHEN IT RAINS, IT POURS.

One of our girls stopped eating and drinking this week. Immediately knowing something was wrong, we asked Judy to take Sophie into the veterinarian for treatment and diagnoses.

After FOUR days and nights at the vet, Sophie is now checked out and resting. And she’s feeling so much better that she’s able to pay with others at the park!!! ❤️

Sophie has “Addison’s disease,” which is a hormonal disorder that is caused by a deficient production of the adrenal gland hormones, cortisol and aldosterone. With ongoing treatment of prednisone and a monthly hormone shot, Sophie is expected to live a normal life.

INTERESTED IN ADOPTING SOPHIE?! If you can commit to ongoing treatment and care, CalWEAR will 1) waive her adoption fee, and 2) sponsor her medication for the first 12 months. Her bio is on our website as well as our Facebook page.

INTERESTED IN HOW ELSE YOU CAN HELP?! Please spread the word about our work, and all the dogs in our care who need to be adopted. Those adoption fees will help us pay down Sophie’s bill, which as of tonight has not been paid.

FINALLY, THANK YOU TO JUDY FOR DROPPING EVERYTHING YOU HAD GOING ON THIS WEEK TO MAKE SURE SOPHIE WAS BEING TAKEN CARE OF. ❤️

With love and gratitude for your continued support,

– Team CalWEAR

MEET SOPHIE.

Sophie hitched a ride on the WEIMBUS today. After eight glorious years together, Sophie’s mom was laid off from her job, and wasn’t able to hang onto her. Before calling the ASPCA, she sent us a message asking CalWEAR to consider taking her girl.

The story of Anne of Green Gables comes to mind, for Sophie is demure, sophisticated, calm, collected, intelligent, poised, and considerate.

Sophie understands the English language better than your average American 5th grader. She’s delicate with her toys and never destroys them. At dinner time, she lets the cats and the chickens come in and sample her meal.

Her resume also includes looking after a pair of twin children.

Sophie has never met a person or animal (dog, cat, horse, chicken, etc.) she didn’t like. She’s crate trained, housebroken, up to date on her shots, and looking for a home to call her own.

Sophie is currently located in Orange County, CA. Please contact us if you would like to foster or adopt Sophie. She’s a shiny diamond in the CalWEAR collection. And we promised her mamma we’d find her a great home. ❤️
