UPDATE: DUCHESS HAS BEEN ADOPTED.
HAIL TO THE QUEEN!!! Meet newest CalWEAR family member DUCHESS!!! This sweet, scared, little four year old Weim girl had a pretty good life. Then came the baby. We don’t judge as every circumstance is different. What is important is her life from this point forward and that the previous owner did what they think is best for her, and we appreciate that.
We are screening all of our current applications for a long-term foster or adoption home for this sweetie. She still needs to be spayed and has a little sunburned nose from being outdoors. We are not sure of what she is like yet but do know that she is a little stressed on her first day away from previous owner.
What we are told:
Duchess was raised with a little Pekingese that she got along well with. She hasn’t been exposed to much outside stimulus so will stress out easily right now. She has not been crate trained but was reliably house trained her first three years before having to be outside. She is non destructive if left alone in the house. She does well on the leash but prefers walks off leash and will stay close by. She love to fetch and adores squeaky toys. If you aren’t paying attention to her, and you are her person, she will place her paw on you to say “here I am…pay attention to me!” She knows how to sit and stay. Not really being exposed to other dogs she is a little hesitant and shy…but we are trying to change that in foster. Duchess had a human baby brother that she did well with. She takes awhile to become accustomed to men. She will bark as other dogs approach but is not a constant barker.
Anyone who has submitted an application will have first priority in the order the applications were received to adopt Duchess. This is a Diamond in the rough! With socialization and love we feel she will blossom into a beautiful great companion. It will take a little time….WELCOME DUCHESS to the CalWEAR Family!!!

Dutches, Weimaraner female.
Hello from Hermosa Beach. This girl looks special and needs full time special attention. My wife and I are looking for such an addition to our family and would love to meet.

I may be interested in adopting Duchess. We’ve had two adopted Weimaraner’s the last 22 years. Raven was our last Weimaraner unfortunately she was 12 and had bladder cancer which spread to her lungs and we had to put her down December 8, 2019.

Thank you, awaiting your reply.

I lost my 14 1/2 year old Wiemeraner about 2 1/2 months ago from bone cancer. I really would to have another one soon. I miss Smokey so much. It’s sad at our house since Smokey is gone. I’m crying just to write this.

Aww she sounds like a perfect fit for me .. I’ll send in an application. I rescued a pup from Friends for Pets (Storm) who had similar circumstances And lost her at 14 yo. I’ve have had 5 rescue Weims and just lost the senior male I rescued in February from Friends for Pets/Pet Fund. My boy is really sad and misses having a pal.
I also helped raise/train/pet sat my neighbor’s Weimy puppies.
So yes, lots of experience working with their various temperaments.
I am also open for other pups.. just my heart goes out to this poor girl.

Hi I have a 1.4 year old female weim and we are looking to ultimately adopt a playmate for her. We live in the Hollywood hills and have an acre fenced in backyard and pool that our current weim loves playing and swimming in. We’d be open to fostering her in hopes she would love it here. We did just have a baby (7months old now). Need to know more about what happened in the last home. Please get in touch to discuss.
