Duke Has Found a Home

April 11, 2020 //  by Kim//  Leave a Comment

MEET DUKE!!!!

UPDATE UPDATE!!!!! Duke is getting his furever happily ever after ending! He has a furever home lined up with two, two legged brothers…they will only have one less than him! 🙂 He will be flying up FIRST CLASS with a Pilots n Paws pilot on Wednesday to a great new home near San Jose! His pilot is so nice that he even offered to adopt him too! Happy ending for this boy whose fate was unclear…and now it will be CLEAR SKIES flying!!!!!!

URGENT!!! Foster or furever home needed for a happy go lucky TRI-POD Weim mix male! Duke is adorable! Duke is happy, Dukes story from original owner:

“Duke is a five-year-old Weimaraner mix. I got Duke from a friend who had an accidental litter of puppies. Duke was born with a disfigured paw, and would have been put down if we hadn’t taken him in. As a puppy, we attempted to correct Duke’s paw so that it didn’t continue to grow wrong, but nothing worked and whenever Duke walked on his twisted paw, it would blister and bleed. Finally, when Duke was fully grown at 2 years old, we had his disfigured leg amputated, and now Duke is much happier and healthier. He can’t go on walks because of his leg, but still likes to go outside and run for a while. Because of his leg, he was never socialized very much as a puppy, He does live and get along with 4 other dogs. Overall, Duke is a very sweet and loving boy. Now, I’m moving and sadly I can’t take him with me. I want to find a home for Duke with someone who will be loving and patient despite Duke’s limitations.”

Sadly, nobody helped the owner before she had to move so Duke has ended up in a shelter. We are trying hard to bust him out but need a committed place for him to go first. He is house trained, neutered, current on vaccines, playful, and good around children. He does lose his balance a bit and might knock over a small child. We really need someone to help him get out of the lonely cold shelter. Anyone have a special hole in their heart they need filled by this boy?! Contact CalWEAR at hello@calwear.org or simply message me here and we can arrange a meeting.
