Question:
My puppy will only pee on certain surfaces, specifically the concrete patio right outside our back door. We have pavers and grass/rocks for our yard, which she poops in, but she’s peeing exclusively on the concrete. I’ve tried walking her to the grass and sitting out there watching her and she won’t go till the second I walk inside. I’ve even sat out there for 30 minutes and… nothing. The few times she has gone in the grass I praised, gave treats, and even got all crazy giddy lol. It’s ruining our concrete and I just don’t know what to do to fix it. I’ve had her for 5 weeks now and cannot fix this one issue. Help!
Answer:
Try picking her up and carrying her or walk her on a leash to the spot where you want her to pee. If she does, praise her wildly so she gets the message she did the right thing. If she doesn’t, take her back inside and into a crate, if you have one. This will prevent her from pottying in the house. Be consistent and persistent. Good luck!
You may also try a “Pee Post” to see if that helps.
