4/28/2019 Update: WEIMBUS PICKUP # 2 TODAY.
The CalWEAR village comes through again!!!!!
On Thursday, Good Samaritan Marina sent us a message to let us know that a two year old Weimaraner had just been dropped off at the Downey shelter. Rescue superstar Shea O’Mejia was there to watch it all go down and later gave us the play by play:
Father and son dropped off dog together.
Son was going to college. (In April?)
No one else in the family wanted the boy.
So they turned him in.
And oh by the way he had lived outside his whole life and doesn’t know what a leash is for.
On Friday morning we called the shelter to verify Max was available for adoption and that no one else had a CTA on him. Yes he was and no he didn’t.
So we sent a volunteer from Orange County to go get him. By the time she arrived, we were told that no, we couldn’t exit him; he still needed to have a behavioral assessment.
Really?!
So we waited. And we waited.
And this morning, we finally received the call to go get him. So here he is!!!!
THANK YOU DANA AND LEXI FOR THE FREEDOM RIDE.
And thank you Shea for being in our corner and available to help us if we had issues exiting Max ourselves.
Folk, if you’re looking to adopt Max, please give us a few days. Shelter dogs need time to decompress. And this poor kiddo has an eye infection that also needs some attention. Small donations towards Max’s vet bill via PayPal to donate@CalWEAR.org are greatly appreciated.
Max will be available for adoption once we get him cleaned up and learn more about him.
