Lost and Found Weimaraners

Found a lost Weimaraner?!

Thank you for taking this dog in and making an attempt to find a good place for it! In the State of California, lost dogs must be turned over to local animal control.

Here’s an article that describes why found animals should be turned over to local shelters. In summary, if someone has lost their pet, that’s the first place they’re going to go to look.

Here’s what you should do:

  1. Take a few photos of the Weimaraner – at minimum, the face and a side view showing the whole body while standing.
  2. Take the Weimaraner to the local animal shelter.
  3. Post flyers in your neighborhood with the hopes that the dog’s owner may see it.
  4. Notify us of where you’ve taken the dog, and when, so we can be on the lookout for it from our end. Also, send us the photos you took, and a brief description of what you thought of the dog. Was it friendly? Scared? Dirty? Neglected?

If no one claims the dog during the mandatory hold period, CalWEAR will coordinate with local rescue organizations (Friends for Pets and Mission Weimaraner Rescue), and ONE of us will make an attempt to pull the for rescue.

Many thanks! – Team CalWEAR
