Sven

May 20, 2018 //  by Kim//  Leave a Comment

Update: After a few months, Sven’s owner was able to find him a new home without having to turn him over to rescue.

MEET THE HANDSOME SVEN! Sven is a 3 year old neutered male Weimaraner and was born on September 13th, 2014. He has been a member of his family since he was 10 weeks old and has been a very loyal and loving dog. Unfortunately with some changes to the family makeup they no longer have the time to provide him with the attention and exercise he deserves.

Sven LOVES his physical activity and mental stimulation. He loves his morning runs. He thrives on being a productive member of the pack and strives to please others. His high energy is perfect for the active family who is willing to devote time with him each day. Sven is good with adults and older children. Families with young children or small animals are not recommended.

Sven does have some challenges and has shown signs of anxiety and food aggression resulting in several superficial bites to his fellow Weimaraner in the home as well as once to his owner. None of the incidents would be considered level 4 but the new family should be aware. Sven can also get stressed when strangers come to the house and when he’s left alone for long hours so additional time will need to be spent to help with his anxiety. A trainer has been consulted and is currently working with him to correct these behaviors. She has stated her optimism in helping Sven overcome these behavioral challenges.

Sven is highly intelligent and has learned a number of behaviors including: sit, wait, lie-down, roll over, place (going to a specific spot and waiting), shake, stand and touch. He is house trained and has no problem holding it through the night. He loves to snuggle up at the foot of your bed and being under lots of blankets.

Interested in meeting Sven? Please contact us at hello@CalWEAR.org to meet him. He is currently living with his originating family in Santee. THANK YOU!
