A message from the CalWEAR front office:
Hello CalWEAR friends and family: You may have noticed a recent uptick in activity; our numbers typically go up around the holidays, and this year is no different. We currently have a record-breaking FIFTEEN DOGS in our care right now and we’ll need your help to stay above water.
MEET TY. Here is a message from his current owner:
“Hi. I’m writing this with a heavy broken heart but I am wondering if your rescue could help me out and take my Weimaraner. I am no longer able to keep him and he has special needs, he cannot hear and he has an eye condition that has made him currently blind, I have had two different vets try to treat and they haven’t be able to and now want me to go to a specialist which I cannot afford because I’ve already spent a couple thousand dollars on this dog. My dog had to live with my parents for the past couple years because my two other dogs don’t get along with him, not his fault they’re dominant, and he’s submissive and innocent. Well my father just passed away so my disabled mother had to moved in with me because she couldn’t afford to keep their home and I’m not home enough to help her take care of him. He cries when he’s alone in a crate or outside alone, but he’s fine when with other dogs but my Akita keeps picking on him. I can’t accept that putting him down is the only option so I’m hoping you might know a foster or maybe find a specialist to fix his eyes so he can see and then his quality of life would be better.”

CALWEAR IS IN SEARCH OF:
- Temporary foster home (preferably in or near Orange County, CA) who can take Ty to our veterinarian, Dr. Robert Woods DVM in Orange, CA for initial evaluation. This may require a few visits, and/or referral to a canine ophthalmologist.
- Long term foster home to take care of him until such time that we are able to find a permanent home.
At some point, we’ll also be asking for donations to help with Ty’s medical treatment costs to be made DIRECTLY to our veterinarian… but let’s figure out the foster piece, first.
Please contact us at hello@CalWEAR.org if you can help with fostering.
- With love and gratitude, Team CalWEAR.
